The Helvetia Art Prize 2015
The encouragement prize includes a monetary award of CHF 15 000 and a curated exhibition at the LISTE. It affirms and expands the insurance group’s longstanding commitment to art production in Switzerland.
Helvetia Art Prize Winner 2015 is Dijan Kahrimanovic, F+F Schule für Kunst und Mediendesign, Zürich.
Dijan Kahrimanovic (b. 1990) is a Bosnian national who lives in Switzerland. He won over the jury with a performance at Plattform 15 in Zurich for which he collected discarded negatives. The images depict scenes of life as it is presented in private family albums. They skillfully interweave collective memory and personal history, delineating the state of being between cultures as a form of identity. Dijan Kahrimanovic’s thoughtful and unpretentious work captures a sense of being that is at once universal, contemporary and topical.
The 2015 Helvetia Art Prize jury consisted of Kathleen Bühler (Kunstmuseum Bern), Dorothee Messmer (Kunstmuseum Olten), Katrin Weilenmann, (Aargauer Kunsthaus) Peter Bläuer (LISTE Basel), Andreas Karcher and Nathalie Loch (Helvetia Versicherungen).
