The New Alphabet: Opening Days
Nowadays, the increasing of knowledge coincides with a major segmentation of the world into tiny units. At the current state of things, everything can be interpreted through a code, and, as a consequence, decrypted and manipulated: this entails that even analog elements and natural life itself can be read through data.
Until 2021, The New Alphabet will address the new interrogatives arisen in this context in relation with ethics, the nature of data and the influence they have on structures of power and property.
The first chapter of activities takes place at Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) from January 10–13, 2019, under the name of “Opening Days“. Artists, musicians, scientists, scholars and activists will gather to try to provide different answers to these questions.
The programme is curated by Bernd Scherer and Olga von Schubert and includes as participants Emily Apter, Gigi Argyropoulou, ASSET Productions, Kader Attia, Philip Banse, Joana Barrios, Matthias Bauer, Sandeep Bhagwati, Sören Birke, Felix Borel, Giulia Bruno, Alexander Kluge, among many others.
