Absolut Art Bar ‘Architectures of the Night’

Architectures of the Night is an Absolut Art Bar by Michele Ormas at Kölner Liste in Cologne, open from 14-17 April.

Ormas’ Art Bar features a 5-metre high ‘Virtual Tower’, which mixes architectural installation, light and projection with acoustic elements, drawing visitors into the heart of a seemingly timeless nocturnal world. Depictions of cities as fragments, which hang, overlap and are draped throughout the space represent the artist’s memories of urban and natural environments, influenced by a range of sources including the Neo-Noir film ‘Dark City’, and the novel ‘Invisible Cities’ by Italo Calvino. An additional theme within the installation is wheat, a key ingredient in Absolut Vodka, which fascinates the artist, and allows for further exploration around fusing elements of urban landscapes and nature.
