Alserkal Avenue Film Screenings: Where We Dwell
Where We Dwell is the second iteration of Alserkal Avenue Programming’s film screenings series presented in collaboration with Cinema Akil. Developed to support Alserkal Avenue Programming’s 2015/2016 theme interrogating the notions of community and belonging in Dubai, Where We Dwell runs in parallel, exploring the concept of home through five lenses: as a theatre for life; a cause or purpose; a feeling or an emotional state; a built environment; and an idea that arises in the absence of place.

The film programme spans the gamut of genres and eras with highlights including John Ford’s classic The Searchers (1956), Anthony Chen’s Ilo Ilo (2013) and Jason Cohn and Bill Jersey’s documentary Eames: The Architect and the Painter (2011). The screening programme will also include special talks and introductions by experts and researchers from the film world.
The film programme kicks-off on Wednesday 21 October 2015 and runs through Friday 4 March 2016 at A4 Space Cinema Room. Each Wednesday a new film will premiere and will be repeated on Thursday and Friday. Screenings start at 7pm are are open to the public on a first-come-first-seated basis.
