HIPA: Life in Colour
The Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) is an independent award established in 2011 in Dubai in order to encourage and spread the culture of photography across the world. Photography is a widely recognized common denominator between peoples of various cultures. Photography is not only a very important factor in the intellectual and emotional development of man, it is a valuable, established profession.
Within this season’s Life in Colour theme there are four categories: Life in Colour, General/Entrants’ Choice, Faces and Night Photography.
The first category, Life in Colour, develops the main theme. The beauty of life is its colour. From fresh cooling blues, calming terracotta hues, deep rich reds to vibrant sunshiny yellows, colour has the ability to alter our psyche. They can bring a warming glow into a dull day and turn the corners of our mouths upwards.
The second section gives the opportunity to enter a truly outstanding piece of photography that best exemplifies the excellence of the HIPA awards.
It’s completely open, embraces all subject matters, removes boundaries and offers participants the chance to choose work that reflects their style as long as they adhere to the criteria and regulations of the Award.
The third category deals with emotions, capture someone’s compelling story, and evoke the attitude, personality and essence of people.
Night Photography section offers mysterious shadows to hide in. The dark veil of night provides a romantic light to capture a glimmer of beauty.
The results and the prizes’ winners will be announced in a public cerimony that will be held on March, 2015.
