On Thursday March 19, at Julius Baer Lounge, there is the presentation of the book Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring – Conversations with Artists from the Arab World.
The curators Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath are present with artists Manal Al Dowayan, Hassan Sharif and Joana Hadjithomas to discuss how informal conversations between them have evolved into a documentation of several personal and professional positions, moderated by Prof. Nada Shabout.
Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring is the first book to give voice to ten artists from across the region: Manal Al Dowayan, Ghada Amer, Lara Baladi, Wafa Bilal, Mounir Fatmi, Joana and Khalil, KhalilRabah, Zineb Sedira, Hassan Sharif and Akram Zaatari. Conducted in Cairo, Beirut, Dubai, Paris, London and New York between the spring of 2012 and the summer of 2013, the 10 interviews in this book are reflective of an ongoing conversation that spans several years.
Unhampered by thematic narratives and art-historical classifications, these conversations offer the reader a candid encounter with these artists within the context of their individual and unique contexts.
