Via Sophiatown

“Via Sophiatown” combines pantsula dancing, a sort of non-acrobatic but demanding hip-hop (due to its speed), tap-dancing, stepping (a tap-dancing style similar to American time step) and gumboot dancing, a miners’ dance where thighs and calves are slapped with the hands. By calling out, whistling, stamping feet and clapping hands, the audience participates in this celebration full of dynamism and passion for life.
The event takes place in the Auditorium Plaza at 8pm on April 19th and 20th and at 5pm on April 21st.
