Marc Camille Chaimowicz / Helen Marten / Serpentine Architecture Programme 2016

Breakfast view of Marc Camille Chaimowicz at the Serpentine Gallery and Helen Marten at the Serpentine Sackler Gallery and the Serpentine Architecture Programme 2016.

Through the combination of diverse media, including sculpture, painting, film, photography and installation, Helen Marten and Marc Camille Chaimowicz create imaginary environments within which fine art, recognisable everyday objects and fragmentary narratives are woven together in a non-linear manner. In responding to the architecture of the Galleries, both exhibitions engage with the slippery nature of materials, the discrepancies between language, memory and image, the familiar and the unknown.

The 16th annual Pavilion is designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) and includes four newly commissioned Summer Houses by Kunlé Adeyemi (NLÉ), Yona Friedman, Barkow Leibinger and Asif Khan, inspired by the Queen Caroline’s Temple, a classical style summer house built in 1734.

9am Meeting Point: The Serpentine Gallery to view the Marc Camille Chaimowicz exhibition and the Serpentine Pavilion and Summer Houses.

9:30am: Walk to Serpentine Sackler Gallery to view the Helen Marten exhibition.
