British Craft: The Miami Edit
The New Craftsmen and Crafts Council UK are delighted to announce their partnership with leading architect and interior designer Natalia Miyar on a co-curated presentation of exceptional British craft.
The showcase forms part of ‘A Future Made’ – a three-year programme to expand the profile and horizons of British craft makers internationally, funded by Arts Council England and Arts Council Wales with a selection of makers chosen by a panel of leading designers, journalists and tastemakers. The first presentation was a highly regarded Design Curio booth – Nature Lab – at Design Miami/ Basel in June 2016.
The residential setting overlooking South Beach offers the opportunity to showcase the best of British craft in a completely different way; illustrating how beautiful hand made and tactile objects can transform a residential space and infuse it with personality and warmth.
Natalia Miyar – founder of Natalia Miyar Atelier – is Miami raised but London based, and her enthusiasm for British craft, coupled with a deep understanding of the market and cultural heartbeat of Miami made her an invaluable partner on this project.
The showcase will be accompanied a full program of events, engaging with diverse audiences across the design, art and real estate community. These will focus on stimulating conversation around process and materials – establishing true connectivity to the pieces and the makers behind them.
Featured makers will include Andrea Walsh, Edmund Byrne, Juliette Bigley & Jochen Holz.
