Counting Rice in the Miami Design District with Marina Abramovic
In the Miami Design District, Marina Abramovic Institute will present the Counting the Rice exercise.
This long durational exercise requires participants to separate rice from lentils and will take place on a series of wooden tables specially designed by Daniel Libeskind in collaboration with the Italian design company Moroso.
Moroso‘s most important contribution to the 2014 Miami Art Basel event comes as a result of the partnership that has been established between the brand and Marina Abramovic to develop a collection of limited-edition design objects connected with Marina Abramovic Institute (MAI). The first creations that have been born out of this collaboration will be exhibited during the event.
The Counting the Rice table designed is realized in two versions. While the first version, made from wood, will be located in the Design District, the second and newest variety, made from concrete, will be exhibited at Design Miami. At this location, there will also be the new Portal chair by Patricia Urquiola realized by Moroso for MAI.
Counting the Rice helps participants to develop endurance, concentration, perception, self-control, and willpower.
