H5: This Is Not A Temple

“This Is Not a Temple” is a site-specific installation by H5 on view for Art Basel Miami Beach 2018. Developed in partnership with Paris-based multimedia studio H5, “This is Not a Temple” is an upcoming contemporary art project that will playfully “animate” the museum’s historical collection for the public. The site-specific installation riffs on the institution’s mission to tell the story of the modern age through objects by visually and chronologically charting the period 1850–1950 on the Wolfsonian façade—with each vertical black line of the timeline corresponding to a piece from the collection designated by name, maker, and date of creation. This teaser previewing The Wolfsonian’s vast contents invites curious passersby inside to discover more and tells in simple graphic terms a vitally important and complex story central to the Wolfsonian era, and our own.

The installation is presented during the annual Friday night highlight of Miami Art Week, The Wolfsonian’s Art Basel Miami Beach blowout is open to museum members at the Diplomat level ($250) and up, Art Basel and Design Miami/ VIP cardholders, and press.
