Laufen Celebrates Shared Creativity with the exhibition Bespoke
Laufen Celebrates Shared Creativity
During the 2016 Miami Design week Laufen presents “Bespoke” – an exhibition highlighting its role as a leading manufacturer of customised bathroom solutions. Three recent projects illustrate the various ways in which Laufen globally supports architects and designers in the pursuit of a unique creative vision. Bespoke is industrial excellence: custom-made products offer an unrivalled level of refinement and individuality that contributes to the unique character of the best interiors.
56 Leonard – Bespoke for architectural spaces:
Bringing custom designed bathrooms to life in a high-profile high-rise project. 56 Leonard is a new global landmark in New York City – a 60 storey luxury residential tower designed by Herzog & De Meuron and developed by Alexico Group. Guided by our partner AF New York Laufen was able to understand, interpret and bring to fulfilment the reality of this project. With the ability to engage the architect, owners, and construction team AF NY combined the technology, flexibility and intellectual expertise of Laufen without compromising the quality, design intent, and detail together within a budgetary framework.
Villa Tugendhat – Bespoke for cultural heritage:
“God is in the details” – Ludwig Mies van der Rohe`s iconic three storey Villa Tugendhat in Brno originally completed in 1930 has been painstakingly restored and reopend in 2012. Laufen developed replicas using just photographs and catalogue specifations of 8 different models.
Charity Auction at Campus Collective
“Impressões” – a set of ten unique SaphirKeramik washbasins, decorated by Brazilian creatives from the fields of architecture, design, fashion, photography and the general arts, will be auctioned at Campus Collective: the Design Escape Party.
The round 380 mm SaphirKeramik washbasin from Laufen served as a blank canvas and gave complete creative freedom to Antônio Ferreira Jr. and Mário Celso Bernardes, Arthur Casas, Christian Cravo, Derlon Almeida, Jader Almeida, João Armentano, Marko Brajovic, Patricia Anastassiadis, Ricardo Bello Dias, and Ronaldo Fraga; each proposing a design that represented their own visual translation of Brazil.
Since its launch on September 17 at the Bienal Pavillion in São Paulo, Impressões 2015 have been presented during London Design Festival, Lodz Design Festival, in our headquarter close to Basel in Switzerland, at Salone del Mobile, Designblok Prague and in our showroom in Miami during Design Miami. In total, only five pieces of each design were produced – one for the artist/designer, two for charity institutions, and two for the Laufen collection.
One out of only 5 sets of washbasins produced will be auctioned on Wednesday Novmeber 30, 7 pm-10pm. Bids will be taken per piece. Minimum bid is 700 usd for a single washbasin.
Impressões – Bespoke for visual concepts:
Demonstrating Laufen`s special interest in supporting the creative arts, the Impressões project provided a platform for artists and designers to experiment and communicate ideas about Brazil to an international audience.
New World Symphony Orchestra
The money raised with the auction of this limited edition of washbasins, fabricated in the revolutionary material SaphirKeramik, will go to support Brazilian students at the New World Symphony, America’s Orchestral Academy (NWS), which prepares graduates of distinguished music programs for leadership roles in professional orchestras and ensembles.
