APERTO ITALIA a cura di Massimiliano Gioni
On the occasion of the first edition of Paris Internationale Milano, Fondazione Nicola Trussardi, Special Public Program Partner of the event, presents “Aperto Italia”, a day of conversations conceived by Massimiliano Gioni to reflect on the state of contemporary art in Italy.
Developed in collaboration with Paris Internationale, the project marks a return by Fondazione Nicola Trussardi to an experimental format first explored in the early 2000s, reactivating a model of engagement within the context of an art fair. “Aperto Italia” opens the public programme of the Milan edition, transforming its first day into a platform for exchange, discussion and collective reflection.
The title recalls “Aperto”, the historic section of the Venice Biennale dedicated to emerging artists, here reconsidered as a critical tool for addressing the present. The project also acknowledges the legacy of Giancarlo Politi and his role in presenting Italian art through Flash Art and exhibitions in Trevi. In a context where the absence of Italian artists from the 61st International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale has been interpreted as a sign of broader structural fragility, the initiative positions itself as a space for public dialogue.
Across a series of conversations, artists from different generations and practices are invited not only to present their work, but to reflect on the conditions shaping artistic production. The programme addresses questions surrounding institutional, economic and critical frameworks, as well as the relevance of “Italian art” as a category today.
Participating artists include Yuri Ancarani, Simone Berti, Carlo Benvenuto, Ambra Castagnetti, Guglielmo Castelli, Giulia Cenci, Sara Enrico, Chiara Enzo, Linda Fregni Nagler, Elisa Giardina Papa, Marcello Maloberti, Margherita Manzelli, Daniele Milvio, Margherita Morgantini, Adrian Paci, Diego Perrone, Grazia Toderi, Patrick Tuttofuoco and Grazia Varisco. The discussions are moderated by Massimiliano Gioni, Nicolas Ballario, Lucrezia Calabrò Visconti, Gianfranco Maraniello, Marta Papini and Roberta Tenconi.
