Aquae Mirabiles

Piazza Tomasi di Lampedusa

On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2026, Buccellati presents “Aquae Mirabiles”, an immersive installation curated by Federica Sala, designed by Balich Wonder Studio, and developed in collaboration with Luke Edward Hall. The project translates the Maison’s visual language into a scenographic experience, centred on the “Caviar” silverware collection and its signature microsphere motif. Through a narrative that combines historical references and imaginative elements, the installation explores Italian craftsmanship and cultural heritage.

An immersive environment
Located near Buccellati’s headquarters in Piazza Tomasi di Lampedusa, the installation takes the form of a temporary structure inspired by a water theatre. Inside, it unfolds as a submerged world where myth, history and fantasy converge. Watercolour drawings by Luke Edward Hall introduce a sequence of environments populated by classical figures, including Neptune, Naiads and sirens, guiding visitors through a symbolic journey linked to water and transformation.

The exhibition path
The first gallery evokes an underwater landscape, presenting silver sturgeons alongside pieces from the Marina collection. Light, reflections and textures create an atmosphere that recalls the depths of the sea. The second space centres on a scenographic banquet, where the full Caviar collection is displayed on a wave-shaped table. The installation combines references to Italian history, from ancient Rome to Renaissance imagery, with a visual narrative that integrates allegorical figures and archival inspiration.

The Caviar collection
The exhibition highlights the evolution of the microsphere motif, a defining element of Buccellati’s production, reinterpreted by Andrea Buccellati. The collection includes a range of tableware objects, from flatware to Murano glass pieces, reflecting the Maison’s approach to craftsmanship and design. Historical works such as the “Cratere delle Muse” (1981) provide a reference point for the continuity of this formal language.
