Dance is not for us
Omar Rajeh, a prominent figure in contemporary dance in Lebanon and the Arab world, has gained international recognition for his powerful stage presence and politically charged choreography.
In Dance is Not for Us, he invites us into his autobiographical world, where dance becomes a means of connection and shared experience. On stage, Rajeh revisits a past frozen in time, where emotions, people, and joyful moments emerge like faded memories. His personal narrative intertwines with the complex history of his homeland, using dance as a means to challenge power structures that regulate and constrain the body. Through this performance, dance transforms into an act of hope and freedom, rekindling lost connections and rediscovering forgotten meanings.
