Fuorisalone 2026
Fuorisalone 2026 presents a city-wide programme of events, exhibitions and installations. In parallel with Salone del Mobile, the initiative transforms Milan into a platform for dialogue and experimentation, reinforcing its role as a global reference point for contemporary design. Designers, architects, institutions and schools converge to explore new approaches to materials, technologies and living environments, reflecting the ongoing transformations of the present.
Theme – “Be the Project”
The 2026 theme, “Be the Project”, frames design as a dynamic, human and evolving process. It emphasises the importance of experimentation, responsibility and dialogue between disciplines, cultures and forms of intelligence. Rather than focusing on final outcomes, the theme highlights process as a space of learning, where intuition, error and transformation contribute to shaping new visions. It also explores the relationship between human creativity and artificial intelligence, understood as a complementary and generative presence.
Fuorisalone Passport
Among the main innovations, Fuorisalone introduces a digital access system that allows visitors to register once and receive a personal QR code. The service simplifies entry to selected events, initially within the Brera Design District, and aims to improve accessibility and interaction between audiences, brands and venues.
Fuorisalone Award
The fifth edition of the Fuorisalone Award recognises outstanding projects presented during Design Week. A selection of twelve installations is open to public voting, alongside special mentions awarded by an international jury in the fields of sustainability, innovation and engagement. A new category, “Being Project”, highlights practices that foreground process, research and responsibility as core elements of design.
e.Reporter
The e.Reporter initiative continues to document the event through the perspective of students in design, architecture and visual arts. Developed in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano and C41 magazine, the project contributes to a collective visual archive of Fuorisalone, encouraging new forms of storytelling and observation.
Collaborations and international platforms
Fuorisalone expands its network through collaborations with miart, proposing thematic itineraries across cultural institutions, and with Salone del Mobile, connecting fair exhibitors with events in the city. New international initiatives include Osaka Design Week, which establishes a dialogue between Milan and Osaka through design and craftsmanship, and MiTo Design Connections, linking Milan and Turin to extend hospitality and cultural exchange.
Digital platform
Fuorisalone.it continues to function as a central tool for navigating the event, offering an interactive map, editorial content, live documentation and personalised user features. The platform supports both visitors and professionals, consolidating its role as a long-term reference for Milan’s design ecosystem.
