Marleen Scholten: La Codista
A comical, political, absurd and honest reflection on the concept of identity
Marleen Scholten performs “La Codista” (The Queuer) at Teatro Franco Parenti, Milan, on April 16 – 17, 2020. Our world is dominated by an incontrollable speed and by the fear of losing time when one is not constantly active. What can happen when we have to wait and queue?
The play is partially based on a true story, Giovanni Cafaro’s, a Milanese man who lost his job and invented the role of the “queuer”, a man payed for standing in line for others. The awarded actress Marleen Scholten presents her work on the theme of waiting, an intangible place where humans share chaos, misunderstandings, anger, questions, despair, boredom, and relief, while experiencing the same moment: waiting our turn.
