Swatch And Alessandro Mendini Celebrate The Poetry Of Design

Italian designer, architect and artist Alessandro Mendini has won worldwide renown for ground-breaking, surprising, magical work filled with color and positive energy.

Celebrating their life-long collaboration, Swatch and Alessandro Mendini have joined forces once again to create a new Swatch Art Special, SPOT THE DOT. For this new work, Alessandro Mendini takes advantage of a cut-away dial to reveal movement components in his signature colors. He frames this dynamic design with a see-through plastic case and, in a playful reference to his earlier work with Swatch, fills the silicone straps with big colored dots – pink, red, yellow, blue and green – on a transparent ground. The color-happy, dotty design appears again on the special sleeve.

SPOT THE DOT (SUOZ213) has been presented to the public at a special activation at the Swatch flagship store Montenapoleone in Milan in April, along with Mendini’s other creations for Swatch. The historical pieces built the perfect background for the new colorful model and Mendini’s new book “Codice Mendini”.
