Ceiba Garden Project
via Bandiera 24
Lia Rumma Gallery presents the CEIBA Garden Project for Manifesta12 5x5x5 programme.
Ceiba, a plant which was considered sacred by the Pre-Columbian Civilizations, was represented as a symbolic axis whose roots and canopy connected the earth, sky and the afterlife. Ceiba Garden Project 2007/2018 consists of macrophotography taken of Ceiba Speciosa, imported from South America in 1896 for the Botanical Gardens of Palermo, relating the geometric structure of its thorns to the Mexican Mesoamerican architecture and to Leon Battista Alberti’s theory of the relation of harmonious parts.
Opening: 16 June: 19.00
Opening hours: Tue – Fri; 5pm – 8pm Sat; 10am-12pm/5pm – 8pm
