Simon Starling: La Decollazione (The Decollation)

Simon Starling with Galleria Franco Noero present La Decollazione (The Decollation) as part of the Manifesta12 5x5x5 collateral event programme.

The project presented at the Chiesa di San Giovanni Dell’Origlione in Palermo, revolves around the realisation of Caravaggio’s The Beheading of St. John the Baptist (1608). The work was produced during a journey from the North of Italy to Sicily which traced the trajectory of Caravaggio’s life, all aboard a tiny Ape Pentarò.
