Guided Walk: Design is everywhere
A guided walk in the Bras Basah-Bugis area with guides – comprising creative practitioners and image-making enthusiasts – will point visitors to the visual markers that bring life and give character to the streets in this pocket of Singapore. A walk, starting from the National Design Centre (NDC), to identify the design markers on Queen Street, Bras Basah Road, Waterloo Street and Middle Road and explain how objects, buildings and public spaces influence the process of design that makes up the colourful milieu of this district.
The guides are Justin Zhuang (In Plain Words), Fabian Lua (Architecture Walks Singapore), Vikas Kailankaje (STUDIO VBK), Medha Lim (Jalan Medha), Yafiq Yusman (Instagrammer:@_yafiqyusman_), and Ben Lau (Instagrammer: @lkkben).
Also, get tips on documenting visual features such as architectural signs and motifs, urban textures, people in the neighbourhood, heritage and cultural, as well as viewing the urban cityscape with new perspectives.
Participants are encouraged to take photos whilst on the guided walk and post them on Instagram with the hashtags: #designiseverywhere and #nationaldesigncentre. Finally, return to NDC for a short discussion on the images taken.
