Tanjong Goodman 2016
The lush arts enclave of Goodman Arts Centre will open its doors at Tanjong Goodman (#TanjongGoodman2016) a week later. The annual Open House, in its fifth season, will feature a full day of art adventures from performances to visual art workshops.
This year’s edition of #TanjongGoodman2016 continues to encourage families to spend the day together to enjoy the arts. Family art collective, Holycrap, will stage an exhibition, When Renndom Met Airany and also share first-hand their experiences in a talk, Forever and a Day, on creating art together as a family. Two separate community artworks by the Centre’s visual arts tenants – Justin Lee and Kamal Dollah – will also provide the opportunities for families and the public to collaborate to make their mark on blank canvases.
An added feature of the Festival is a specially commissioned interactive tour of the Centre by Sweet Tooth, the outreach arm of CAKE Theatrical Productions. As the history of Goodman Arts Centre remains a mystery to many, this tour provides the perfect opportunity to discover the secrets of Goodman Arts Centre. Embark on this tour as the performers lead a walk through the lush greenery of the Centre.
An artist enclave, Goodman Arts Centre is home to some of Singapore’s brightest talents. Get to know them in this rare series of Open Studios and learn more about their craft in various workshops and performances. Explore sounds with trio, Sa(仨) the Collective, in an open jam studio or get crafty making a puppet from scratch with Paper Monkey Theatre. Visit artists’ and dance companies’ work spaces and studios in the Centre and have a chat with them over a cup of coffee.
Lastly, round up the day with some shopping! Rummage through pre-loved items at the Great Singapore Garage Sale to search for gems. Remember to #supportlocal at the first Goodman Farmer’s Market! Get your fix of fresh produce from Singaporean brands such as The Indiana Supply Co. and HIC Juice.
