The Social Infraculture

1971 – Design Space will be hosting a two-day Social Media Forum titled “The Social Infraculture” on 16 and 17 January 2016. The event will feature workshops, talks and panel discussions focusing on the role of social media in creative industry and social development, ie the roles social media for non-profit entities.

Day one of the event will concentrate on the theme of ‘Social Media in the Creative Industry’ and will feature a panel discussion titled: ‘Social Media & The Art World’. The panellists, all from various influential UAE art institutions and magazines, will discuss how social media can help benefit the creative industry.

In addition, the forum will touch up on the growing use of Artificial Intelligence by online key players like Google, Facebook and LinkedIn with a panel talk, which will be chaired by Sultan Al Qassem. The panel will include panellists from the Museum of Future, a unique incubator for futuristic innovations and designs launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Day one will also include a talk titled ‘Instapraneurship’ by Fatma Al Mulla artist and founder of the brand FMM and an informative workshops titled: ‘Brand yourself on Instagram’ with social media expert Zahra Nasralla founder of Social Addicts. The programme will end with a Pecha Kucha Night event where entrepreneurs, bloggers and inspirational creatives will share their experience using social media in the 20 second x 20 slides format.

Day two of the Social Infraculture will concentrate on the theme ‘Social Media for Social Change’ and will include a panel discussion with representatives from non- profit organisations and local community heroes on how social media can support public service causes.

In addition to discussions, there will be a talk titled ‘Social Media for Non-Profit’ by Mohamed Al Hosani, Director of Leadership & Empowerment at Takatof, the national volunteering arm of the Emirates Foundation for Youth And Development. And a workshop by Zahra Nasralla titled ‘Lead generation via Facebook ads’.

Day 1: Saturday 16 January, 2016

3pm – 4pm | Instaprenuership by Fatma Al Mulla | Talk

Fatma Al Mulla, Emirati entrepreneur and designer will give a 30 minute talk on social media from an entrepreneur’s perspective. Fatima will tell us her story and how she used social media to get brand exposure and drive sales. We will hear about Fatima’s experience, while she reveals her story and her online business journey to help us learn from her struggles and success. With over 130k followers, Fatima will share her leanings, tips and best practices to increase brand presence for businesses online.

4pm – 5pm | The Use of Artificial Intelligence in Social Media | Panel Talk | Panelists: Hunter Lee Soik, Dr. Noah Raford and Matt Suiche | Moderated by Sultan Sooud Al Qassemi

5pm – 6pm | Brand Yourself on Instagram by Zahra Nasralla | Workshop

Learn how to build and enhance your personal brand on Instagram. 1 hour workshop will teach you how to create an effective social media strategy, show you the best techniques to connect with your audience, and also discuss case studies of successful social media stars from around the region. This workshop will help you understand what makes a good Instagram page and discover tips and tricks on how to increase your online exposer and create effective content to drives action. It’s useful for artists, professionals or public figures who are looking to build an online presence, create a personal brand awareness, understand what makes a good Instagram page and post. 5pm – 5.45 pm | Social Media for Non- Profit Organizations by Mohamed Al Hosani | Talk delivered in Arabic

Mohamed Al Hosani, Director of Leadership & Empowerment at Takatof, the national volunteering arm of the Emirates Foundation for Youth And Development. He will deliver in Arabic a 30-minute talk on Social Media for Non- Profit Organizations.
His talk will discuss Emirates Foundation programs and how the organization use social media to attract and motivate the youth in the community. One of the main goals of their digital presence is youth motivation and encouragement to get involved in volunteering programs at Emirates Foundation. Mr Al Hosani, will discuss the best ways to reach this goal through social media. He will also share with us best practices to use for social media for non-for profit from his experience at the organization.

6pm – 6.45pm | Lead Generation on Facebook by Zahra Nasralla | Workshop

Here’s what we’ll be covering in this workshop.
• How to reach out to individuals who will most likely become your followers.
• How to generate quality leads month after month using Facebook with targeted strategies, ads and funnels.
• How to use tools like conversion tracking pixels & audience pixels
• Understand Website Audience Pixel and learn how to Create Dynamic Retargeting Ads
This workshop is useful for entrepreneurs and business owners who are looking to generate customers from their Facebook page and/or drive traffic to their website.
