Phonetics Art Publishing Festival

“Phonetics” is an event dedicated to independent art publishing, exploring the expressive potential of language in all its forms. Conceived by Axis Axis and Paint It Black—two entities active in editorial and curatorial fields—the project focuses on the sonic, symbolic, and formal dimensions of language, both written and spoken. Designed as a space for encounter and experimentation, “Phonetics” brings together publishers, artists, and readers among books, sounds, images, texts, and bodies, fostering dialogue and collective research through fairs, performances, and shared practices.

The programme reflects the fluid trajectories of contemporary art and publishing, integrating live sound performances and a culinary offering curated by Ailimē (beverages) and chefs Alice Guarini and Edoardo La Ferrara, who combine visual, rustic, and fine-dining influences. Axis Axis specialises in concrete and sound poetry, experimental literature, and transcription-based works, while Paint It Black, founded in Turin in 2022, bridges contemporary publishing and visual art through its dual identity as a bookshop and publisher, cultivating collaboration, imagination, and exchange.
