AdE Vela Rapido

The “Vela d’Artista” project involves the design and creation of a sail for Edipo Re, a boat dear to Pier Paolo Pasolini, by contemporary artists capable of weaving together values such as environmental sustainability and social inclusion. For the second edition of the project, Atelier dell’Errore proposes “AdE_Vela_Rapido,” a mainsail 10 meters high and 5 meters wide.

The main characteristic of this sail is to physically incorporate the graphic artwork designed by the collective for this edition. AdE, through close technical collaboration with a historic sailmaker, has conceived a work in which the design becomes the structure, the supporting soul of the sail.

For the support of the design, the collective has chosen a highly symbolic material: 50 thermal rescue blankets, joined together to create two enormous silver and gold backgrounds. AdE thus transforms a generic material of rescue and protection into a sail, a symbol of a new possible future.
