Hamish Fulton: Repetitive Walk

On the occasion of the last day of the 56th Venice Art Biennale, Michela Rizzo Gallery in collaboration with Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, announces a special project for Palazzo Ducale: a Repetitive Walk by Hamish Fulton

The Repetitive Walk is free and open to all ages. Booking is essential.

Participants are invited to meet at Palazzo Ducale reaching the courtyard from Porta della Carta (on the side giving on Piazzetta San Marco) November 22nd at 2 pm, they will then be given a set of instructions for the walk – that will start around 2,30 pm (participants will need to be punctual). The walk will have the duration of one hour and will take place regardless of the weather: participants are expected to bring appropriate clothing and footwear. Participants could bring with them bags and rucksaks, provided that they are little bulky or will be deposited at the Palazzo’s guardarobe. Participants are asked to walk in silence. Phones and smartphones will be eventually used only to take photos or videos: calls won’t be allowed.

A professional photographer will document the Repetitive Walk, the artist will eventually chose one or more images to realize one or more artworks.

Since the 70’s Hamish Fulton has made circa 40 group walks. Among the most recent ones:  Cairngorm Mountain Railway Car Park (UK, 2010), alla Tate Modern di Londra (UK, 2011), all’AV Festival (Newcastle Qayside, UK, 2012), Margate Sands (UK, 2012), al Fierce Festival / Retracing the City (Birmingham, UK, 2012), a Zurigo (CH, 2012), Bad Kleinkirchheim (A, 2013), Berlino (D, 2014), Oxford (UK, 2015).
