Therme Forum: The Right to Refuse

The event brings together eight panelists from the fields of art and design to discuss the role and responsibility of artists in imagining and generating spaces in our cities.

Organised by Therme Art Program in partnership with the British Council, the event takes place on November 23, 2019 at the British Pavilion celebrating the closing of the 58th Venice Biennale.

The Right to Refuse: Resisting Predominant Narratives as a Condition of Originality“, features a conversation between eight panelists from the fields of art and design to discuss the role and responsibility of artists in imagining and generating spaces in our cities which are deviated by commercials rules and technological filters.

Panelist include Emma Dexter (Director, Visual Arts, British Council); Claudia Paetzold (Art Advisor & Curator); Lucia Pietroiusti (Curator, General Ecology, Serpentine Galleries, and Curator, Lithuanian Pavilion at the 58th Venice Biennale 2019); Roya Sachs (Curator, Lever House Art Collection); Zoé Whitley (Senior Curator, Hayward Gallery); Sarah Wilson (Professor of Modern and Contemporary Art, Courtauld Institute); Robert C. Hanea (President & CEO, Therme Group), and will be moderated by Therme Art Program Curator Mikolaj Sekutowicz (Vice President, Therme Group).
