Artist’s Talk by Cristiana Tejo
Throughout the 1970s, Mail Art connected hundreds of artists around the world, creating a networked community of exchange, and in some cases, political resistance. Paulo Bruscky as one of these artists and Cristiana Tejo talk about this phenomenon and the relation between censorship and art in Latin America.
Cristiana Tejo is an independent curator, PhD candidate in sociology at the Federal University of Pernambuco (Recife, Brazil), and co-founder of the Espaço Fonte—Centro de Investigação em Arte (Recife). She was co-curator of Panorama da Arte Brasileira (São Paolo, 2011) and curator of the exhibition devoted to Paulo Bruscky at Bienal de La Habana (Havana, 2009).
Paulo Bruscky is a Brazilian artist; his work has been on view in solo exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art, (São Paulo, 2014), and The Bronx Museum, (New York, 2013). In the 1980s, he exhibited extensively in different venues in Recife and at the São Paulo Biennial (1981).
