Mous Lamrabat: Blessings from Mousganistan
Foam presents "Blessings from Mousganistan", an exhibition by self-taught photographer Mous Lamrabat. Beauty and a sense of hope are at the heart of the Moroccan artist's work.
Mousganistan‘s work is an exhilarating and sometimes shocking fusion of his diasporic life, using beauty and humour to create powerful new narratives related to sensitive issues such as racism, religion, and women’s rights. In this exhibition, the artist shares a message of love through a colourful and eclectic visual experience.
Mous Lamrabat‘s world is a place where life is at peace and people are loved, regardless of where they come from or where they go. This is the experience that the artist wants to convey in the exhibition Blessings from Mousganistan: one enters the fascinating utopia that the artist has created within the walls of the museum. The artist asks and sometimes pushes the viewer to look differently at the images in front of him; he has superimposed his photographs in large lenticular prints or vacuum-pulled portraits around a Nike logo and the McDonalds “M” that the artist has incorporated into his work. By changing the forms of well-known symbols and images, Lamrabat deconstructs the notion of ‘normality’.
