A.R. Penck
A solo exhibition with a selection of sculptures, canvases and works on paper by A.R. Penck.
Luftgässlein 4, Basel, Switzerland
In the exhibition dedicated to German artist A.R. Penck (1939 – 2017) at Galerie Knoell, works of diverse materials – paper, cardboard, wood, bronze and terra-cotta – expression of Penck’s different creative phases, are on display.
Penck’s oeuvre is recognizable from his energetic and uncompromising formal language.
The artist devoted his career to formulate a symbolic vocabulary made of signals and signs, someones concrete and defined while others playful and ambiguous.
Working with different media, Penck creates complex visual realities and gives shape to social relationship structures.
