Body Language
The exhibition “Körpersprache” brings together four artists who engage with the gallery space through distinct practices. The title, meaning body language, refers to non-verbal communication where gestures, postures and movements serve as forms of expression. Within this context, an artwork is understood as a body that responds to its surroundings and enters into a dialogue with visitors. Similarly, the architectural interior is viewed as a body that envelops both the works and the audience.
The invited artists explore the body and its relationship to space. Thomas Hauri creates pictorial spaces in works on paper that record traces of material, movement and process. Sofía Durrieu presents an installation that invites visitors to explore the environment with their own bodies. The corporeal sculptures of Paweł Ferus communicate with each other and the public. Anastasia Müller addresses the human body as a scientific and social subject, incorporating medical perspectives, beauty ideals and technological influences into her research-driven practice. The exhibition encourages visitors to heighten their own bodily awareness through movement and interaction with the artworks.
