Jonathan Monk Solo Show

With a cycle of work in various media, Jonathan Monk will investigate the question of what defines an artist’s success and an exhibition’s success.

In his work, the internationally active – and internationally successful – British artist often finds new ways to interpret and consider the paradigms of 20th century art history, countering them while challenging them with wit and consideration. A wide variety of media are applied in his work depending on his enquiry and topic, including photography, film, performance, video, sculpture and mail art, media he applies using everyday means of production and communication. Monk is developing new works for the Kunsthaus Baselland, works which can be read and understood in relation to Art Basel which takes place during the course of Monk’s exhibition.
