Lena Henke: My Sidewalk Ballet
Together with curator Anna Goetz artist Lena Henke has been researching artistic garden and landscape projects from around the world, over a period spanning from the 16th century up to today. During intense field trips in Europe and the US, Henke followed the tracks of artists who have realised their individual and radical visions of spatial outdoor arrangements.
For her project at SALTS, Henke transforms SALTS’ outdoor space into a unique and fantastic comprehensive sculptural environment, which is inspired by elements and conceptual elements taken from the greater outdoor sites the artist visited – some realised and still existing, some forgotten utopias that were never realised – that the artist combines with architectural structures inspired by the urban landscape of her chosen hometown of New York.
