Marc Bauer: Fear Rage Desire Still Standing
The Kunstmuseum Basel presents a project by Swiss artist Marc Bauer. Titled “Marc Bauer. Fear Rage Desire, Still Standing”, the presentation examines history, memory, gender, and identity from a queer perspective. Bauer’s drawings focus on the construction of masculinity and structural violence against queer people, intertwining art historical motifs, digital imagery, and archival material.
The artist translates extensive academic research into a personal visual universe filled with ambiguity. The exhibition features site-specific mural drawings created directly on the museum’s walls, which are destroyed after the presentation ends. These large-scale works are combined with drawings on canvas and paper, alongside a dedicated multimedia soundtrack that creates an immersive, reflective atmosphere.
