Marie Matusz: Canons and Continents

“Canons and Continents” presents a site-specific installation by conceptual artist Marie Matusz at Kunsthalle Basel. Thirty black square vitrines extend across the back wall like a linear archipelago, evoking islands plotted on a global map. These vitrines both connect and divide, reveal and conceal. A tension unfolds between order and expansion, tradition and exploration—subtly suggested by the exhibition’s title.
