Monira Al Qadiri: BENZENE FLOAT

The Kunsthaus Baselland presents a major site-specific pictorial intervention by Monira Al Qadiri on its large foyer wall, a space regularly dedicated to long-term artist commissions. This project explores the profound global and regional reliance on oil production, specifically examining the economic dependency of the Gulf states. The work confronts the severe ecological degradation and social disruptions caused by resource extraction.
