Olympia (The real-time disintegration into ruins of the Berlin Olympic stadium over the course of a thousand years), start 2016

The exhibition is based on the story of the Olympia Stadion which inaugurated in Berlin in 1936. By using 3D reconstruction, Claerbout presents the progressive decline of the building and its surroundings based on algorithmic calculations taking into account current meteorological data and the actual position of the sun. As in other works by Claerbout, the passing of time is experienced in the form of thoughts on time and perception.

Olympia can be regarded as an attempt to measure human life against ideological duration.
