Otto Freundlich: Cosmic Communism
The German artist was very famous for being one of the only ones during his time, in the first half of the twentieth century, to turning his mind and craftsmanship to so many currents in the art. He was a person who was very widely know in different societal circles, and himself knew everyone and everything. Being of Jewish origin, he had to face exclusion and eradication of his works as well as his person, which resulted in his work falling into oblivion. The Kunstmuseum will reflect on his path of life and trace back developments of his artistic practice and ideology. Thereby, the exhibition is aiming at paying respect to the work of a man who was forced to the brink, persecuted, vilified, and finally murdered.
