Signals
Artists: Theodor Bally, Al Held, Luigi Lurati, Kenneth Noland, Jules Olitski, Georg Karl Pfahler
This spring, on the 60th anniversary of the exhibition “Signale”, Galerie Mueller in Basel presents “Signals”, a group exhibition that re-evaluates the legacy of Arnold Rüdlinger’s landmark 1965 show at Kunsthalle Basel. The original exhibition is the first in Europe to acknowledge the emergence of a new form of energetic hard-edge painting—characterised by dynamic geometric shapes and associated with a space-age mode of visual communication.
Signals brings together works by the original transatlantic group of artists—Al Held, Kenneth Noland, Jules Olitski, and Georg Karl Pfahler—in dialogue with works by Luigi Lurati and Theodor Bally.
An accompanying catalogue features a text by Arthur Fink titled Hear the Signals – Arnold Rüdlinger and American Painting.
