Verner Panton: Form, Colour, Space
“Verner Panton: Form, Colour, Space” is presented by the Vitra Design Museum in collaboration with Verner Panton Design AG. Marking the 100th anniversary of the Danish designer’s birth, this retrospective covers his entire career, from early 1950s designs to works from the 1980s and 1990s.
Graduating from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and starting in Arne Jacobsen's office, Panton shifted towards radical spatial concepts where colour, textiles, and light modulated the domestic environment. The exhibition displays iconic pieces like the “Panton Chair”, the “Cone Chair”, and the “Flowerpot” lamp alongside visionary living landscapes, multi-sensory environments, and corporate projects such as the interior for Der Spiegel.
The display features a scenography with a colourful ribbon referencing Panton's immersive spaces. Drawn from the Verner Panton Archive, the selection includes furniture, prototypes, and over 40,000 documents, highlighting his design process and his mostly unrealised architectural work.
