Wolfgang Tillmans
The solo show presents around 200 photographic works by the German artist dating from 1989 to 2017, and is thereby the Fondation’s first comprehensive engagement with the medium photography.
From having attained iconic status for his evocative photographs in the 1990s, he widened his focus and experimented with the medium. Tillmans created a new visual language, with and without using a camera. He used a photocopier as well as other new technologies leveraging on the medium of photography.
This exhibition does not only display portraits, still life and landscapes, but a series of his abstract works that play with the limits of the visible are presented.
The exhibition is accompanied by an audiovisual installation, and designed in close collaboration with the artist himself.
