Yan Xing: Dangerous Afternoon

The Kunsthalle Basel presents a solo show by the Chinese artists, including sculptural elements, black and white photographies, video works as well as a small performance piece. This newly commissioned installation conspire to convey something about the show’s fictive curator whose fantasy life is the libidinal undercurrent to the project. Together in their displayed composition, Xing’s works touch and blur the contrasts between fact and speculation, public and private spheres, the object and substance.
