Adolf Luther: Brilliance and Blue
Adolf Luther‘s work deals with the integration of the elements of light and space: his research has focused on claiming the centrality of light perception in the observer’s visual experience, as a reaction to the crisis in the world of painting.
From the 1960s on, the artist has been continuously developing the concept of a new image of reality from painting with the goal to free the element of light from its material support and offer an experience of pure perception of it. Aware of the fact that light is always related to matter, Luther used peculiar materials such as glass – mirrors, lenses, coated and kinetically moved – to attain the highest possible approach to this ideal.
