Aurora Reinhard: High Rider

Artist Aurora Reinhard‘s works deal with the topics of sexuality and gender, questioning in particular the external image and self-image of women in the media and in the world of consumption. Her feminist approach expresses itself in photographies, sculptures and videos, which usually defy the usual boundaries between sexes and provoke the audiences.

For the exhibition, Reinhard developed several works which reference to iconic images of the collective visual memory of the Occident, such as the motif of mother and child, but stressing their original meanings and iconographies. In her works, what she ultimately achieves are not effigies or cheap illustrations of traditional contexts, but rather new shocking symbols that upset the viewers but also invite them to activate new ideas and interconnections.
