Gustav Düsing: Ephemerals
Düsing’s work blends architecture with natural phenomena and environmental responsiveness. In the main gallery, Düsing’s “sunsight to sunclipse”, developed at Villa Massimo in Rome in 2021, uses solar energy and natural laws to create a dynamic, communal space. Inspired by Buckminster Fuller, the installation reflects Earth’s rotation and environmental forces. The kinetic structure creates a communal space where people can gather and experience these otherwise invisible forces that significantly impact our lives.
In the second gallery, “Picknick” (2024) features adaptable parasols inside and outside the gallery. These versatile structures can create passages, hideouts, roofs, and tents, offering endless possibilities. The parasols symbolize a responsive and adaptable architecture that speaks to the transient and mutable nature of space.
