Lawrence Abu Hamdan: Walled Unwalled

Lawrence Abu Hamdan’s artistic practice focuses on audiovisual installations and performances which explore our auditory consciousness and memory involving primarily highly political contexts. His works often address topics such as state and industrial violence and propaganda.

Walled Unwalled, presented in the exhibition, is a video installation created in Berlin and shot inside Funkhaus Berlin, in the former recording studios of the GDR’s radio broadcasting center. The location used to film it recalls Abu Hamdan’s analysis of wall-based sound absorption and reflection involving various political case studies.
