The exhibition features different contemporary artistic positions which reflect on the theme of touch in different contexts, exposing at the same time current contradictions in society. On one hand touch is an essential part of our every day life, being increasingly in use for what concerns technological devices, on the other human beings’ fundamental need to be physically touched is being met by a diversifying spectrum of body and healing practices that includes touching.
Touch investigate how these two aspects influence each other and the role of it in modern communication, more and more characterised by a growing superficiality for what concerns human contacts. Although the sense of touch precedes the sense of sight, the Western world gives little thought to the potential of touch—as compared to that of the visual—as a source of knowledge.
