Wilson Diaz: Chimera

daadgalerie, Oranienstraße 161

The artist made a series of video while visiting a region in southern Colombia which ha been completely demilitarized. He recorded the leisure activities of guerrilla soldiers by representing them in an empathetic way that goes in contrast with the usual media caricatures portraing them as the absolute enemy.

Other works on show elaborate the role of pop music as a way to configure a political subject and discourse. A lot of the works start from the artist’s LP collection which includes singles recorded for presidential campaigns in the 70s and 80s.

The latest edition of this show “Quimeras” was produced for the Museo Tamayo in Mexico city in 2017.
