Alberto Garutti: Temporali

On the occasion of Arte Fiera, garage BENTIVOGLIO in Bologna presents “Temporali” by Alberto Garutti, a work that transforms a distant and unpredictable natural phenomenon into an intimate, everyday art experience. Installed in the street-facing window on Via del Borgo di San Pietro, the light of the piece becomes a visible sign of events happening elsewhere, creating an invisible connection between viewer and distant sky.

Garutti’s work continues a tradition of artists since the late 1960s who expanded sculpture beyond the object into landscape, time, and anticipation. Unlike Walter De Maria’s The Lightning Field, which relies on pilgrimage to remote locations, Garutti intervenes directly in existing space, using the electrical system as a sensitive device to the world. As curator Davide Trabucco notes, the work is “dedicated to those who, passing by, think of the sky,” whether near or far. The installation may manifest without witnesses—or not at all—leaving its activation to the imagination of the viewer.
