Carol Rama: Unique Multiples

“Unique Multiples”, curated by Elena Re in collaboration with Jacobacci & Partners as part of the Fuorisede project under the ART CITY Bologna 2025 programme during Arte Fiera, is specially devised for Villa delle Rose. The exhibition showcases Carol Rama’s major multiples (1993–2005), created with Franco Masoero Edizioni d’Arte–Torino, drawn from the Franco Masoero and Alexandra Wetzel Collection.

Through these works, Rama revisits the central themes of her artistic universe, emphasising her life, passions, and signature motifs—characters, seductions, fetishes, and idylls—woven into a compelling narrative. The pieces reflect a unique synergy between technical expertise and poetic vision, highlighting Rama’s collaboration with Franco Masoero, who provided the creative freedom to defy conventions.

The title “Unique Multiples” reflects the oxymoron of multiples imbued with the intensity of singular works. The exhibition includes variations of the same subjects, some featuring manual additions or paired with proof sheets, revealing the individuality within each piece. This multiplied art transcends fixed boundaries, celebrating Carol Rama’s limitless artistic freedom.
